Dear teammates,

Hello from Italy. I write to you some informations about our town and our school.

Treviso is located on a plain and it's about 15 metres above the sea-level. Its latitude is about 12 degrees and its longitude is about 12 degrees. It's capitol of province in Veneto and is situated about 30 km North -West of Venice, which is the capitol of the region, known all over the world for its wonderful and unique lagoon. Treviso is a town of about 83 thousand inhabitants and it's crossed by the Sile river and by its numerous tributaries.
Besides its numerous bridges, along the Sile river there are still some old wooden water mills. Lots of fish and water birds live in its water such as coots, water hens, herons, different species of ducks, swans and gulls.

Treviso is a medieval town rich in monuments and historical squares such as "Piazza dei Signori". The city is enclosed by its 15th century walls along which there are public gardens and gates wich are the gateway to the town. In the province of Treviso the Piave river flows, that is the fifth river in Italy and it's famous because the first world war was fought there; you can find something about this river in the Hemingway's novel "Addio alle armi". ( I don't remember the original title!)

If you want to read other informations about Treviso you can visite the site that my students wrote in the virtual classroom contest 98. You can find the link in this web site:

Our school has 13 classes in the building of our quarter, and 21 classes in the main building that is the city center ( about 2 km from us). You can see photos of my students while they visit a historical park near our school.

I'm a mathematics and science teacher, my collegue of English collaborates with me. Her name is Emilia Curcio.
